A Reconnection in Brussels

These photographs were taken during a four-day stay with a close friend of mine—Emma—whom I met during our time in photography school. Although we both pursued our own paths after completing our bachelor’s degrees, we’ve remained in contact ever since. Recently, Emma relocated to Brussels, Belgium, and has settled into her new life there with confidence and warmth.

Visiting Brussels felt like the start of something fresh. I hadn’t been to the city—or the country—since I was 14, so this trip was more than just a visit; it was a true holiday and a much-needed change of scenery. I arrived with the certainty that it would be an amazing experience, and it didn’t disappoint.

Over those few days, I had the opportunity to meet a wide range of people and personalities, which reminded me of the beauty and richness of human connection. It was a grounding and inspiring experience—one that reaffirmed my appreciation for simply being among others. Through Emma, I also got a deeper look into Brussels’ vibrant cultural life, particularly the techno-house and live music scenes. The creative energy flowing through the city—often referred to locally as BX—left a lasting impression on me.

This short but powerful trip deepened friendships, sparked new insights, and allowed me to document moments of presence, freedom, and expression.
